Your Journey Starts Here
Every great tattoo begins long before the first drop of ink touches your skin.
It begins with an idea.
Sometimes it's a design you've been dreaming about for years.
Sometimes it's a memory you want to honour.
Sometimes it's simply the feeling that you're ready for something meaningful.
Wherever your journey begins, we're here to guide you through it.
At Woke Tattoo Studio, we believe getting a tattoo should feel exciting—not overwhelming.
That's why we've created a process that's clear, collaborative, and centred around you.
From your first enquiry to your fully healed tattoo, we'll explain every step, answer your questions honestly, and help you make confident decisions along the way.
Whether this is your first tattoo or your fiftieth, our goal is the same:
To make the experience as memorable as the artwork itself.
There is no pressure to know everything before you contact us.
You don't need to have the perfect design.
You don't even need to know exactly what you want.
You simply need an idea.
We'll help you shape the rest.
Think of this page as your roadmap.
By the time you reach the end, you'll know exactly what to expect, how the process works, and how we'll work together to create a tattoo you'll be proud to wear for years to come.
Step 1 – Tell Us Your Idea
Every tattoo starts with a conversation.
You don't need professional terminology, a finished sketch, or a perfectly planned design.
All you need is an idea.
Maybe you've saved inspiration on Pinterest.
Maybe you've collected photos from Instagram.
Maybe you have a rough drawing, a meaningful quote, or simply a story you want to turn into artwork.
Whatever stage you're at, we'd love to hear it.
What Should You Send Us?
The more information you can provide, the better we can understand your vision.
Helpful details include:
- Reference images that inspire you.
- The style you like.
- The approximate size.
- Where you'd like the tattoo placed.
- Whether you prefer colour or black and grey.
- Whether it's a brand-new tattoo or a cover-up.
- Any personal meaning behind the design.
Don't worry if you don't have all the answers.
We'll figure them out together.
This Is a Conversation—Not a Commitment
Sending an enquiry doesn't mean you're locked into a booking.
It's simply the first step in understanding your ideas and exploring what's possible.
Sometimes we'll confirm that your original idea is the best approach.
Other times we may suggest small adjustments to improve readability, balance, or longevity.
Either way, our advice will always be honest and centred around creating the strongest tattoo possible.
Every Great Tattoo Begins With Listening
Before we design anything, we want to understand you.
What inspired this tattoo?
What do you want it to represent?
How do you want it to make you feel every time you look at it?
The answers to those questions help us create tattoos that are not only visually beautiful but deeply personal.
Step 2 – Your Consultation
Your consultation is where ideas become a plan.
It's an opportunity for us to get to know you, understand your vision, and design a tattoo that's tailored specifically to you.
Rather than rushing into the tattoo itself, we take the time to discuss every important detail before your appointment.
What We'll Talk About
During your consultation, we'll explore:
- Your design ideas and inspiration.
- Placement on your body.
- Size and proportions.
- Colour or black and grey.
- Style preferences.
- Your budget and project scope.
- Estimated timeline and number of sessions.
- Any questions or concerns you may have.
This conversation helps us create a design that's realistic, balanced, and aligned with your goals.
Honest Advice Comes First
One of the most valuable parts of a consultation is receiving professional guidance.
If we believe a small adjustment could improve the design, placement, or long-term readability of your tattoo, we'll explain why.
Our recommendations are never about changing your vision.
They're about helping your vision become the best version of itself.
Building Confidence Before Tattoo Day
By the end of your consultation, you should feel informed—not overwhelmed.
You'll understand the next steps, know what to expect, and have a clear plan for moving forward.
We believe confidence comes from clarity.
That's why consultations aren't just about designing tattoos.
They're about building trust before the tattooing even begins.
Step 3 – Designing Your Tattoo
Once we've discussed your ideas and agreed on the direction of your tattoo, the creative work begins.
This is where inspiration becomes artwork.
Our goal isn't simply to create a tattoo that looks beautiful today.
It's to create a design that feels personal, works naturally with your body, and continues to look strong for years to come.
Turning Ideas Into Artwork
Some clients arrive with a clear vision.
Others only know the feeling they want their tattoo to capture.
Both approaches are perfectly fine.
We use everything you've shared—your story, reference images, preferred style, placement, and personal meaning—to begin developing a design that's uniquely yours.
Thoughtful Design, Not Copying
Reference images are exactly that: references.
They help us understand what you like, but they aren't simply copied onto your skin.
Instead, we combine inspiration with artistic planning to create a tattoo that's original and tailored specifically to you.
This allows your tattoo to feel personal rather than borrowed.
Refining the Details
Every stage of the design is considered carefully.
We'll refine proportions, improve composition, balance contrast, and ensure the tattoo flows naturally with your body.
Sometimes small adjustments make a significant difference to how a tattoo ages and how comfortably it fits its placement.
These decisions are made with your long-term satisfaction in mind.
Your Approval Matters
Before tattooing begins, we'll make sure you're comfortable with the design.
We'll discuss any final adjustments and answer any remaining questions.
We want you to feel excited and confident—not rushed.
Because once the tattoo begins, your focus should be on enjoying the experience, knowing the planning has already been done.
Step 4 – Tattoo Day
Today's the day.
Whether it's your first tattoo or another addition to your collection, it's completely normal to feel excited, nervous, or a little bit of both.
When you arrive, our priority is making you feel comfortable.
We'll welcome you, review the design together one last time, and make sure everything is exactly as you expect before we begin.
Before We Start
We'll confirm the placement, discuss any final questions, and position the stencil so you can see how the tattoo will look on your body.
Take your time.
If something doesn't feel quite right, we'll adjust it.
This is your tattoo, and we want you to feel completely confident before the first line is tattooed.
During Your Appointment
Every tattoo is different, but one thing remains the same: we'll guide you through the process.
We'll explain what's happening, check in with you throughout the session, and make sure you're as comfortable as possible.
If you need a short break, some water, or a moment to stretch, just let us know.
Creating great tattoos is important.
Creating a positive experience is just as important.
Your Comfort Comes First
Everyone experiences tattooing differently.
Some people chat throughout the session.
Others prefer to relax quietly or listen to music.
There's no right or wrong way to experience your appointment.
We'll adapt to what helps you feel most comfortable.
Before You Leave
Once your tattoo is complete, we'll explain how to care for it during the healing process.
We'll answer any questions you still have and make sure you leave feeling confident about the next stage of your tattoo journey.
Step 5 – Healing & Aftercare
Your tattoo journey doesn't end when you leave the studio.
Healing is an important part of the process, and looking after your tattoo properly helps protect the quality of the artwork for years to come.
We'll provide clear aftercare instructions before you leave, and we're always happy to answer questions if something doesn't seem quite right during healing.
What to Expect
Every person's skin heals differently, but most tattoos go through similar stages.
You may notice mild redness, tenderness, peeling, or itching as your skin recovers.
These are normal parts of the healing process.
Resisting the urge to scratch or pick at the tattoo helps protect both the artwork and your skin.
Looking After Your Tattoo
Following your aftercare instructions carefully is one of the best ways to support good healing.
Simple habits—such as keeping the area clean, avoiding unnecessary irritation, and allowing your skin time to recover—can make a significant difference to the final result.
We'll explain exactly what to do based on your tattoo and your skin.
Support Doesn't End at the Studio
If you have questions after your appointment, we're here to help.
Whether you're unsure about healing, want reassurance, or simply need advice, we'd much rather you ask than worry.
Your experience matters to us long after your appointment is over.
A Tattoo Worth Waiting For
Healing takes patience.
As your skin settles, your tattoo will gradually reveal its finished appearance.
Looking after it properly gives your artwork the best opportunity to heal beautifully and remain something you're proud to wear for years to come.
Ready to Begin?
Every tattoo starts with a decision.
Not the decision to get inked.
The decision to begin a conversation.
Whether you've been planning your tattoo for years or you've only recently started exploring ideas, we'll meet you where you are.
We'll listen first.
We'll guide you honestly.
And together, we'll create something that's personal, meaningful, and designed specifically for you.
Our goal has never been to rush people into getting tattoos.
Our goal is to help people make decisions they'll still feel proud of years from now.
If that sounds like the experience you're looking for, we'd love to be part of your journey.

What if I'm nervous?
That's completely normal. Many of our clients—especially those getting their first tattoo—feel a little nervous beforehand. We'll guide you through each stage of the process, explain what's happening, and make sure you feel comfortable before we begin. There is never any pressure to rush. —
Do I need to know exactly what I want?
Not at all. Some clients arrive with a finished concept, while others only have a rough idea or a meaningful story they want to express. Part of our role is helping you develop those ideas into a tattoo that's uniquely yours. —
Can I bring reference images?
Absolutely. Reference images are a great way to communicate the styles, details, or overall feeling you're looking for. They help us understand your vision while giving us a foundation to create original artwork designed specifically for you. —
How long will my tattoo take?
Every tattoo is different. The size, placement, level of detail, and complexity all influence how long a session may take. We'll discuss an estimated timeline during your consultation so you know what to expect. —
Can I bring someone with me?
This depends on the studio environment and the type of appointment you've booked. If you'd like someone to accompany you, let us know in advance and we'll explain what works best for your appointment. —
What if I need to reschedule?
One reschedule is allowed when you contact Woke Tattoo Studio at least 24 hours before the agreed appointment time. The deposit transfers to the replacement appointment, which must take place within 90 days of the original appointment date and remains subject to availability.
If you give less than 24 hours’ notice, do not attend, request another reschedule, or do not use the transferred deposit within 90 days, the deposit is forfeited and a new 50% deposit is required before another appointment can be confirmed. These terms remain subject to any consumer rights and remedies that cannot legally be excluded.
What if I have more questions?
Ask us. No question is too small. Whether you're wondering about the design, the appointment, healing, or aftercare, we'd much rather answer your questions than have you feel uncertain.
Our Commitment to You
From your first message to your fully healed tattoo, you'll always receive honest advice, thoughtful planning, and professional craftsmanship.
Because the best tattoo experiences aren't built on pressure.
They're built on trust, communication, and collaboration.
We can't wait to hear your story.
